The following video I found while searching through the net is a great introduction to creating diaper cakes for baby showers.
Are you planning on having a baby shower? Are you having trouble coming up with baby shower food ideas? It is quite possible to prepare a quick meal that guests will enjoy the look and taste of.
There are five relatively easy items that you could include in your party spread. These include chicken wings, pizza sandwich fingers, tuna on Ritz, beef stew with a French loaf or salad.
Chicken Wings
Simply marinade some chicken wings in a large bowl overnight. This could be marinade that you purchase at the supermarket or that you make from an old family recipe. Once you have this all mixed together, simply seal the bowl and put it into the refrigerator overnight so that the marinade seeps in. You can then either bake or grill the wings for a wonderfully simple baby shower food.
Pizza Sandwich Fingers
In order to make this baby shower food you will need to take a few loaves of bread and cut each slice into 4 strips. You will then want to put coarsely chopped, bite sized pieces of salami, capsicum, button mushrooms and tomatoes on each strip before sprinkling cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the top. Then all you have to do is simply grill this baby shower food in a toaster oven.
Tuna on Ritz
This is probably one of the easiest baby shower foods to prepare. All you need is a box of Ritz crackers. You will then mix a can of tuna with a can of cream of mushroom soup before spooning half a teaspoon of this mixture onto each cracker.
Beef Stew and French Loaves
If you are looking for more filling baby shower food ideas, then this is what you want to make. Here you will want to make a stir fry out of 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 chopped onion, 3 minced cloves of garlic, 1 kg of beef cubes, 3 large ripe tomatoes, 3 large diced potatoes, 3 large diced carrots, 2 stalks of celery and a box of button mushrooms. You should also throw in a handful of oregano leaves, a sprinkle of crushed black pepper and a pinch of salt. Once this is done, simply fill the pot with boiling water and allow it to simmer for 3 hours in order to draw out the flavor. This should be served with warm bread.
Salad
Here is another easy baby shower food to serve. All you need to do is chop up 1 large head of lettuce, 1 bunch of baby spinach, 3 large ripe tomatoes, button mushrooms, chick peas and your favorite veggies before chilling it. Of course, you will want to offer a few choices of salad dressing.
Baby shower cake ideas can be simple; planned to be served as the dessert, or it can be a major decorating feature of the party. It can be as simple as a sheet cake bought at the local grocery store or bakery and maybe have “Welcome baby” written on top, or it can be something much, much, more.
Creative Baby Shower Cakes
The secret behind a creative baby shower cake is to get a good idea. There are many clever ideas online. Some of them tie the cake directly to the theme, such as “Noah’s Ark”, or “Baby Animals”. Others are just plain cute cakes, like ones that are of baby booties or a baby face. Go online, look at some of the creative cakes out there and see if you can replicate them – with your own creative twist!
A few of the cute ideas that are used as themes and/or baby shower cakes now-a-days are: baby ducks, Noah’s Ark (especially for twins!), pink or blue – or “It’s a boy!” or “It’s a girl!” (depending on expected baby’s sex), sports (for baby boys), princess (for baby girls), baby animals, or baby books (to start the baby’s library with the guests’ favorite books for babies). Cakes can be easily designed around any of these themes. We will now discuss another popular baby shower cake idea, the diaper cake.
The Non-Edible “Baby Shower Cake” – A Diaper Cake
Something that is quite popular now-a-days is to make a “cake” out of disposable diapers. Not only is it clever and creative, but it also works as another gift for the mother-to-be, as the diapers can all be used later.
Even mothers who prefer to use cloth diapers on a regular basis welcome some disposable diapers for times they are on vacation or unexpected emergencies. Alternately, the cake can be made using cloth diapers – which the mother-to-be would probably welcome just as much! (Beware; they are more expensive to buy than the disposables, so the cake would probably be smaller.)
The “diaper cake” is made up of rolled disposable diapers. The top layer can have six, the middle layer about 15, and the base layer about 30. Each layer is secured by rubber bands, which are later covered by ribbon. Gifts can be hidden in the middle of each layer if desired. The bottom layer is put onto the cardboard for a stable base. Each layer is stacked, and wooden dowels are used from top to bottom to secure each layer on top of the other. The whole cake can be wrapped in cellophane to transport. It is a wonderful way to present the mother with a useable gift in a decorative fashion – as a baby shower cake!
I am hosting a baby shower in three and a half weeks for my friend. She wants a barbeque, with men, women, and children invited. There are 28 guests, and the baby’s a girl. Guests range in age from 1 year to the mom-to-be’s grandma. I need some short, interesting games to play at the shower that will involve everyone, hold their attention, and not take forever. Any ideas?
This is my second and Im not saying I would have a shower, But I didn’t have one for my first either. We bought most of the stuff ourselves. Anyhow that is neither here nor there. I would like to have a party soon after I bring the baby home like a welcome home/to the world. Anyone else having this instead? My son wants us to do something for the baby. Even if its just a small party to say welcome home.
A friend offered. I don’t have a large social circle or a large extended family. Lots of relatives probably don’t even know i have kids. I just don’t really need a lot of baby stuff bc I saved a lot of my sons stuff anyhow.
